Toddler Craft Materials Needed for Paper Plate Butterfly:
To make this spring craft you’ll need:
- Paper Plate
- Non-Toxic Washable Paint
- Paintbrush (unless you use finger paints)
- Brad (or you can use glue)
- Pipe Cleaner
- Scissors (For Adult Use Only)
First, cut the paper plate into butterfly wings, as shown in the picture.
Next, dip the paper plate in water. This step is optional. By soaking the paper plate in water for a minute, the paint colors will spread across the paper plate more easily, giving more of a water color look.
Next, let your toddler paint the butterfly wings. Depending on the age of your child, you may want to help your little one with this part. For very young toddlers, it may be easiest for them to paint using finger paints!
Let the paper plate dry completely.
When the butterfly is dry, push the brad through the center middle of the two paper plate parts, attaching the wings together.
Fold a pipe cleaner into a “V” shape and attach it to the back of the brad on the back of the plate. Curly the tips to make them look like antennas.
If you don’t have a brad, you can simply glue the paper plate wings together.
